Eugene Hector
LEIPSIC - Eugene F. "Gene" Hector, 77, of Leipsic, died at 9:00 a.m., Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay. He was born October 11, 1936 in Leipsic, to the late Clyde and Gertrude (Fenstermaker) Hector. On March 16, 1963,  he married Marsha Jean Closson who survives in Leipsic.
He is also survived by two children: Kevin (Tracey) Hector of Tampa, FL, and Kristine (Rex) Mustaine of Lebanon; seven siblings: Helen (Jerry) Manring of Ashland, Ardath (Edward) Haughn of Traverse City, MI, Dorthea (Paul) Wilkinson of Leipsic, Patricia (Tom) Craft of Dayton, Wayne (Bonnie) Hector of Gilboa, Dwight (Rogette) Hector of Ellettsville, IN, Laura (Bill) Drerup of Punta Gorda, FL; and six grandchildren: Kendra Siefer, Kylee Mustaine, Mitch Hector, Cole Hector, Lauren (John) Bliffen and Travis Reavis.
Hector was a member of the Gilboa United Methodist Church where he was trustee for several years. He was a 1954 Pandora-Gilboa graduate and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Hector was retired from the Allen County Corrections in Lima, was a farmer, a State Highway Officer and a Deputy Sheriff for the Putnam County Sherriff's Department. Hector was a member and former Chaplin of the Gilboa American Legion Post #536. He built and flew RC Airplanes and enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and singing.  He and Marsha spent their retirement years at Hide-Away Resort in Florida, near their son and his family.  His family was very important to him and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
A  funeral service will begin 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the Gilboa United Methodist Church, with Pastor Tom Graves officiating.  Burial will follow in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa with military rites by the Gilboa American Legion. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
