Eugene R. "Gene" Worline, Sr.
DUPONT - Eugene R. "Gene" Worline, Sr., 76, of Dupont died at 4:55 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2015 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born May 24, 1938 in Collins, OH to the late Floyd H. and Florence (Swicker) Worline. On August 2, 1958 he married Edith M. Moore who died February 12, 2014.
Also surviving are 3 children: Gene (Amy) Worline, Jr. of Grove City,PA, Jenni (Rick) Snively of Pandora, and Debra (Frank) Leatherman of Oakwood; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Floyd (Janet) Worline and Dale (Colleen) Worline both of Defiance; and a sister-in-law: Hilda Cummings of Lima. He was also preceded in death by a grandson: Jacob Leatherman; a brother: Paul Cummings; and 2 sisters: Betty (Marvin) Bixby and Myrtle (Clifford) Jones.
Gene was a retired tool maker with S.K. Tools of Defiance. He was a veteran of the National Guard. Gene was a member of Auglaize Chapel Church of God and it's Men's Fellowship. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was very sociable and enjoyed visiting friends and spending time with his family and in his younger years he loved fishing and camping with them. Gene and his wife enjoyed taking walks together. He liked his time spent with God, reading the Bible and his devotionals.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 at Auglaize Chapel Church of God, Oakwood: 22652 County Road 60, (3 miles south of Oakwood, 1/2 mile west of on County Road 60) with Pastor Gene Worline, Jr. and Pastor Stan Harman officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Dupont. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
