Eugene J. Hoorman
OTTAWA- Eugene J. Hoorman, 77, of Ottawa died at 5:17 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf.  He was born April 26, 1936 in Glynwood, OH  to the late Charles and Yulida (King) Hoorman. On June 20, 1964 he married Ruth Niemeyer and she survives in Ottawa.
Also surviving are 3 children: Mike (Trish) Hoorman of Portland, MI, Laurie (Tom) Hageman of Glandorf, and Bob (Emily) Hoorman of Waterville; 5 grandchildren:  Mandy Hoorman, Erin Hageman, Erica Hageman, Adam Hageman, Eli Hoorman;  5 step-grandchildren: Carah Kessler, Brady Kessler, Russ Austin, Nathan Austin, Phil Austin; 4 step-great-grandchildren: Breanna Austin, Nicole Austin, Elizabeth Austin, Jake Austin;  2 brothers: John (Marie) Hoorman of Ottawa, Jim (Dani) Hoorman of Ottawa; 3 sisters: Virginia (John) Hoyt of West Virginia, Betty Weber of Greenville, R.I., and Theresa Birkemeier of Glandorf.
He was proceeded in death also by a sister: Margaret Hanneman and a grandson: Michael C. Hoorman.
Gene retired in 1996 after 44 years with Philips of Ottawa. He also worked at Walmart for 8 years. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa; a member of the Starlight Club and Quarter Century Club and the Ottawa Knights of Columbus. He was an Air Force veteran.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa VFW and American Legion. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 8 p.m.  at LOVE FUNERAL HOME., Ottawa where a Knights of Columbus  rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
