Eunice A. Thrasher
KALIDA - Eunice A. Thrasher, 92, of Kalida, went home to be with Jesus at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Community Health Professionals Hospice, Van Wert. She was born May 23, 1922 in New Cleveland to the late Aloysius and Ethel (Cooley) Schroeder. On September 18, 1954 she married Ivan E. Thrasher who preceded her in death on July 5, 1991.
She is survived by a daughter: Lori A. (David) Rienstra of Grand Junction, CO; 2 grandchildren: Drew Rienstra of Johannesburg, South Africa and Katie (Jody) Bailey of Grand Junction CO; 2 great-grandchildren: Alexia and Owynn Bailey; 3 brothers: George (Ruth) Schroeder and Clyde (Joan) Schroeder both of Ottawa, and Fr. Kenneth J. Schroeder of Carthagena; a sister-in-law: Jean F. Schroeder of Ottawa; especially devoted niece and caretaker, Cindy Altaffer; many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Maurice and Richard Schroeder; and 2 sisters: Mary Eileen Schmidt and Janice Maag.
Eunice graduated from Glandorf High School in 1940 and from St. Rita's School of Nursing in 1943. In 1950 she moved to southern California where she worked for 20 years at the Riverside Medical Clinic retiring in 1988. In 1997 she moved back to Ohio. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Kalida and its Rosary Altar Society. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America in Riverside, CA. Happy Birthday in Heaven.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 25, 2015 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Kenneth Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Ottawa. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a rosary at 7:00 p.m., and from 9:30 to 10:30, Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Myasthenia Gravis Fund, American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
