Felipe “Moose” Guerra, Jr.
LEIPSIC – Felipe “Moose” Guerra, Jr., 79, of Leipsic, passed away at 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at The Meadows of Leipsic. He was born December 18, 1946, in Mission, TX to the late Felipe Sr. and Lilia (Gonzalez) Guerra. On September 25, 1965, he married Guadalupe Rocha, who preceded him in death on January 26, 2025.
He is survived by four children: Felix “Freaks” (Tara) Guerra of Columbus Grove, Ricardo Guerra of Toledo, Melissa Guerra and Robert Scott “Tako” (Janie) Guerra, both of Leipsic; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and two on the way; and five siblings: Gerarda Vidal of Michigan, Maria Mata, Fela Trejo, Veronica Cavasos, Antonio Guerra, all of Texas.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, Fernando Guerra; a granddaughter, Alexandra Lee “Alexus” Guerra; and two siblings: Dalia Barco and Casimido Guerra.
Felipe worked for Philips, Ottawa while starting a business, F.A.S. Trucking in Defiance, Ohio with some friends. He then started his own company “Guerra’s Transport” and was owner/operator until he couldn’t drive anymore. He was president of the Latin American Club in Defiance and was involved in giving Hispanic Scholarships in Leipsic. Felipe was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic and was also an early member of F.L.O.C. [Farm Labor Organizing Committee].
Felipe and Guadalupe loved to go to Mexican dances even though he had 2 left feet. He also loved to spend time working on his semis with his sons and from time to time give them a “loving” tap on the head with a wrench to be sure they were paying attention. As we are sure a grandson or two got the same “loving” tap to pass down the tradition.
The family would like to thank from the bottom of our hearts, all the staff at The Meadows of Leipsic for keeping our dad on his toes from the time he got up until it was time for bed or could it have been vice versa??? We would also like to thank Putnam County Hospice for keeping our dad comfortable.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 16, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. George Wenzinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic and again on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Parish Life Center.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
