Florence P. Verhoff
OTTAWA – Florence P. Verhoff, 82, of Ottawa died 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Lima Memorial Hospital, Lima. She was born January 23, 1930 in Cuba to the late Bernard and Mary (Bockrath) Vennekotter. On May 29, 1948 she married James H. Verhoff who died March 10, 2001.
She is survived by 13 children: Diane (Bill) Rieman of Ottawa, Michael (Bev) Verhoff of Ottawa, Charlene (Bob) Pochadt of Holland, PA, Nicholas (Bonnie) Verhoff of Carmel, IN., Gerard (Jeanie) Verhoff of Glandorf, Christina Haselman of Leipsic, Craig (Sharon) Verhoff of Ottawa, Douglas Verhoff of Ottawa, Jeanne (Tom) Wenzinger of Ottawa, Beth (Jim) Schumaker of Glandorf, Philip (Cheri) Verhoff of Ottawa, Eric (Cindy) Verhoff of Glandorf, and Aaron Verhoff of Ottawa; 38 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Laura Recker and Norma Ellerbrock both of Glandorf; 3 sisters-in-law: Esther Vennekotter of Miller City, Maria Kidd of Ottawa, and Thelma Vennekotter of Glandorf.
She was also preceded in death by a grandchild; a great-grandchild; a son-in-law: Chuck Haselman; a daughter-in-law: Vickie Verhoff; 3 brothers: Oscar, Otto and Norbert Vennekotter; a sister and brother-in-law: Bertha and Ike Schnipke; and 2 brothers-in-law: Joseph Recker and Tom Ellerbrock.
Florence was a homemaker and had worked at Buckeye Sugars in Ottawa. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and its Rosary Altar Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She volunteered at The Meadows of Ottawa-Glandorf, Ottawa Thrift Store and the Senior Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 20, 2012 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. George Wenzinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a scripture service at 2:30 p.m. and a CLC service at 7 p.m. both on Sunday. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
