Frances M. Meyer
GLANDORF – Frances M."Fritz" Meyer, 94, of Glandorf, died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at her residence. She was born July 16, 1917 in Kalida to the late Louis and Louisa (Knueven) Gerdeman. On November 24, 1937, she married Urban J. Meyer. He died March 3, 1995. Surviving are 8 children: Joyce (Hubert) Wehri of Kalida, Robert (Annette) Meyer of Kalida, Margie (Dennis) Gerschutz of New Bavaria, Marilyn (Carl) Morman of Glandorf, Judy (Jim) Wagner of New Bavaria, Gary (Diana) Meyer of Glandorf, Dianne (Rick) Maas of Miller City and Debra (Jim) Schmitz of Glandorf; 49 grandchildren; 109 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-great-grandchildren; a special niece: Nancy Meyer of Toledo; many other nieces and nephews; and 2 sisters-in-law: Gertrude Knueven and Mary Meyer both of Leipsic. She was preceded in death also by a grandchild and a step-great-grandchild.
Frances was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and its Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia where she was past president and held many other offices. She had a wonderful memory and loved spending time with her family sharing good advice. She had been secretary for the National Farmers Organization; enjoyed polka and square dancing, playing cards and made over 2000 rosaries for the missions. She also crocheted afghans and caps for preemies in several hospitals for the past 12 years. The baptismal gown her mother hand- made has been passed down to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a CLC and parish rosary at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
