Francis X. "Hank" Hermiller
OTTAWA - Francis X. "Hank" Hermiller, 92, of Ottawa died at 7:50 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 at The Meadows of Ottawa. He was born May 20, 1922 in Ottawa to the late John J. and Clara G. (Maas) Hermiller. On July 10, 1948 he married Jane C. Fenbert who died  July 6, 2014.
From that union were born four children: Linda (Tom) Diller, Joseph (Kathy) Hermiller, Teresa (Don) Croy, and Barbara Hermiller all of Ottawa;  ten grandchildren: Didi (Conrad) Allen of Saudi Arabia, Greg (Jessica) Hermiller, Matt (Alaina) Diller, Jeff (Cari) Croy, Lyle (Amee) Croy, Cory (Becky) Brinkman, Sara (Erich) Guy, Angela (Nathan) Tucker, Jackie (Nathan) Graff, and Jenna Doepker; eighteen great-grandchildren with one on-the-way. Also surviving are three sisters: Angela Lammers of Florida, Mildred Agner of Ottawa, and Mary Elizabeth Dubbs of Bowling Green. He was preceded in death by a brother: Robert J. Hermiller; seven brothers-in-law: Don Lammers, Bob Agner, Marvin Dubbs, Bill Fenbert, Bill Newton, Dan Corwin, and Kim Wray; and four sisters-in-law: Elsie Fenbert, Marie Newton, Eleanor Corwin, and Jeanne Hermiller.
Mr. Hermiller graduated from Sts. Peter and Paul High School, Ottawa and attended the New Mexico State College of A and MA (now New Mexico State University) under the Army's Specialized Training Program. He served in the US Army during WWII from December 1942 until February 1946 with service in the European Theater of Operations.             Following the war he worked for the US Civil Service at Lima Ordnance Depot and Newark Air Force Station retiring in 1980 with 30 years of service. He then worked part-time as Adjutant Finance Officer of American Legion Post 63 in Ottawa  retiring again in 1996. During this time he also served for 41 years as the Editor of Post 63's monthly newsletter.
Mr. Hermiller was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, Ottawa Eagles and Ottawa VFW and was a lifetime member of the Ottawa American Legion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, March, 30, 2015 with Fr. Rick Friebel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa VFW, American Legion and Am Vets. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a VFW service will begin at 7:00 p.m., and a scripture service at 7:50 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul School Education Fund or to a charity of the donor's choice.
