Francisco V. Alafa, Jr.
LEIPSIC – Francisco V. Alafa, Jr., 74, of Leipsic, passed away at 11:26 a.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born November 6, 1949, in Little Field, Texas to the late Francisco and Eulalia (Vega) Alafa, Sr. On August 29, 1970, he married Kathleen Marquez, and she survives in Leipsic.
Other survivors include three children: Francisco (Heather) Alafa III of Toledo, Adam Alafa and Abel Alafa both of Leipsic; 7 grandchildren: Anthony, Saige, Gabriel, Julia, Noah, Emery, and Macalah; 9 great-grandchildren: Analisa, Akyra, Frankie, Cameron, Aliyah, Iassic, Emmanuel, Ace and Isaac; and six siblings: Eloisa (Lupe) Gonzalez, Ismelda (John) Vasquez both of California, Baldemar (Lala) Alafa of Ottawa, and Robert (Alice) Alafa of Texas; and 2 sisters-in-law: Suzie Alafa and Lydia Alafa both of California.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Roy Alafa and Feliciano Alafa; and a grandson, Richie.
Francisco retired in 2006 from General Motors in Defiance. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic, Ottawa VFW, Ottawa AMVETS and Ottawa American Legion. Francisco enjoyed working outside and on his 1954 Chevy Powerglide.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler with military rites by the Ottawa VFW, AMVETS and American Legion. A visitation will be held on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic. A rosary will begin at 6:00 p.m. and a VFW service at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
