G. Thomas Schomaeker, 83, of Coldwater, Michigan, formerly of Ottawa, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
Tom was born May 4, 1935 to Alva H. and Blanche A. (Blossom) Schomaeker in Ottawa, Ohio. He graduated from Ottawa High School and then attended Northwestern Business College in Lima, Ohio.
He married Mary Alice Chandler on September 16, 1956 in Ft. Jennings, Ohio.
Tom was employed as a supervisor at Phillips ECG in Ottawa, Ohio for 35 years, retiring in 1990. During that time, he also worked as a car salesman for Kibsgard Inc. in Findlay, Ohio and later with Bellman Ford of Ottawa. He was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a member of the NRA and the Leipsic Hunting and Fishing Club. Tom loved his life at home on the lake and spending winters with his wife in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida. He enjoyed boating, motorcycles and classic cars. He had a soft spot for animals and adored his dogs, Mickey, Daisy and Kiki. More than anything, Tom loved his family and was so proud to call them his own.
Tom is survived by his wife of 62 years Mary Alice of Coldwater, Michigan; his daughters, Lynn (Jeff) Hyman of Ottawa, Ohio, Lisa (Randy) Westrick of Ottawa, Ohio, Laura (Mike) Hermiller of Ottawa, Ohio and Leslie (Joe) Jepson of Coldwater, Michigan; his grandchildren, Ashley (Chris) Bennett, Lindsay (Brian) Bradbee, Paige (Travis) Frey, Jordan (Erica) Hermiller, Alex (Lauren) Hermiller and Joel (Haley) Jepson; his step grandchildren, Troy Hyman and Megan Hyman; his great grandchildren, Chris Hyman, Nye, Truman and Alvie Bradbee, Grady and Athen Hermiller, Hayden Bennett, Cameron Frey, Jax Hermiller, and two more that are on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jackie Schomaeker.
A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon, Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ottawa, Ohio with Pastor Katie Hayes officiating. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 11:00 until 12 Noon prior to the memorial service at the church. A luncheon will follow the memorial service at the church fellowship hall. The family is being served by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
