Gail Arlene Morris

OTTAWA - Gail Arlene Morris, 72, of Ottawa, passed away at 4:59 a.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Lima Memorial Hospital.  She was born February 19, 1951, in Lima to Gene and Mary (Dysert) Stainbrook.  Her father preceded her in death. Her mother, Mary, along with her husband, Duane Dearth, both survive in Leipsic. Gail was previously married to Ray Morris, who passed away on April 17, 2016.

Gail is survived by two children: Bret (Melanie) Morris and Rachel Camara, both of Columbus Grove; four grandchildren: Kamaldine Camara, Mariah (Brad) Stephens, Brayden Sigler and Trey Sigler, all of Columbus Grove; six great-grandchildren; four siblings: Dennis (Cindy) Stainbrook of Ottawa, Dawn (Cody) McCullough of Pandora, Terry Stainbrook of Ottawa and Gary (Wendy) Stainbrook of Fort Mill, SC; three step-siblings: Linda England, Steve Dearth and Scott Dearth; many nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Lou Ann Wood of Ottawa.

Along with her father, she is also preceded in death by her brother, Bruce Stainbrook, formally of Pandora.

Gail graduated from Pandora-Gilboa Local Schools in 1969.  She then received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University in 1973. Gail retired from Continental Schools, where she was an English Teacher and Librarian. She previously worked at Tony's in Ottawa. Gail was a member of Gilboa United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader, loved her cat, Evie, and enjoyed going to casinos with her friend, Lou Ann. Gail also enjoyed spending time with her family and was affectionately known as "GiGi" to her grandchildren.

A memorial service will begin 11:30 a.m., Monday, July 3, 2023, at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, 916 E. Main St., Ottawa with Pastor Ruth Carter-Crist officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. on Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.
