George "Jerry" Hammons

CLOVERDALE - George "Jerry" Hammons, 67, of Cloverdale received his wings and went to live with Jesus, Monday, September 26, 2016 at 3:48 p.m. at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Ft . Wayne, Indiana, after sustaining injuries from a motorcycle accident.   He was born May 22, 1949 in Van Wert County to Ralph and Frieda (Hartwig) Hammons.   His father is deceased and his mother survives in Cloverdale.  On October 23, 1971, he  married Vickey Bennett who survives in Cloverdale.

Jerry is also survived by his daughter: Stacey Miller; a son: Kyle (Jennifer) Hammons both of Van Wert; two sisters: Barbara (Everett) Guyton and Kathy Kline both of Cloverdale; a brother: James (Barbara) Hammons of Sylvania; and 4 grandchildren: Austin, Brooke, Kassidy and Jaxton all of Van Wert.  He was also preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law: Douglas and Lela Bennett; a brother-in-law: David Kline and a sister-in-law: Connie Bennett.

Jerry was a 1967 graduate of Grover Hill High School and a veteran of the United States Army.  He was a member of the Melrose United Methodist Church.   Jerry was an avid Cleveland Indians fan "Go Tribe" and enjoyed golfing with his Tuesday Oakwood golf buddies.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Melrose United Methodist Church.  Arrangements are under the direction of HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood.

His last breath here, was his first breath there.
