George Herman Kuhbander
OTTAWA - George Herman Kuhbander, 93, of Ottawa died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013 at The Meadows of Leipsic. He was born August 18, 1919 in Dayton to the late John and Monica (Kleoppel) Kuhbander. On April 23, 1946 he married Mary Ellen Meyer who survives in The Meadows of Leipsic.
Also surviving are 2 children: Rick (Liz) Kuhbander of Hamler and Karen (Kenneth) Maag of Ottawa; 5 grandchildren: Scott (Marcia) Maag of Ottawa, Randy (Jill) Maag of Massillon, Ryan (Tiffany) Maag of Columbus, Brad Kuhbander of Onsted, MI., and Kelly Kuhbander of Norwalk; 8 great-grandchildren: Sydney and Delaney Maag of Massillon, Morgan, Kamron, Theo, Claudia, and Isaiah Maag of Ottawa, and Kaelyn Maag of Columbus; a sister: Eva Hughes of St. Petersburg, FL.; and a brother: Rudy Kuhbander of Celina.
He was preceded in death by a son: Robert Kuhbander; 4 brothers: Alfred, Edward, Adam, and Patrick Kuhbander; and 5 sisters: Florence Lauf, Helen Chamberlin, Louise Halker, Rose Laubenthal, and Mary Catherine Watkins.
George worked at Excello, Gerding Paving and Orville Achors Log Hauling. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where he had served as an usher for many years. He was presently a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Glandorf and a lifetime member of the Ottawa Eagles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May, 2, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Ottawa. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, or to Putnam County Hospice.
