Gerald L. Niese

NEW CLEVELAND – Gerald L. Niese, 76, of New Cleveland, passed away at 6:05 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023, at his residence.  He was born December 20, 1946, in Lima to Charles H. and Ruth (Leinsetter) Niese. His father is deceased and his mother survives in Ottawa.  On December 17, 1966, he married Phyllis Lammers, who survives in New Cleveland.

Other survivors include a son, Jeffery A. (Laurie) Niese of New Cleveland; a son-in-law, Adam Klosowski of North Carolina; three grandchildren: Allison (Jared) Kern, Travis (Elizabeth) Niese, both of New Cleveland, and Megan Niese of Miller City; three great-grandchildren with one on the way; and three siblings: Nancy (Jim) Niese of Miller City, Tom (Jane) Niese of Leipsic and Carol (Mike) Nemire of Pandora.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kristine Klosowski.

Gerald worked for Campbells Soup, Napoleon from 1984-2010 and was a lifelong farmer.  He served in the US Air Force, working as jet mechanic. He enjoyed farming, restoration projects  and collecting antique tractors. Gerald enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 4, 2023 at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland with Fr. Scott Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 – 8 p.m., Sunday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic.
