Gerald "Jerry" Utrup
GLANDORF - Gerald "Jerry" Utrup, 74, of Glandorf died 11:34 p.m., Monday, December 3, 2018 at his residence. He was born February 11, 1944 in Lima to the late Norman and Evelyn (Hohenbrink) Utrup. On August 19, 2009 he married Susan Schroeder who survives.
Other survivors include four children: his daughter Pam (Jeff) Schulte of Ottawa, 3 sons: Jay Utrup of Ottawa, Kurt (Kathy) Utrup of Glandorf, Nick (Jill) Utrup of Burnsville, MN, 3 stepchildren: Jason (Jennifer) Ricker of Ottawa, Jennifer Hohlbein of Kalida, and Carrie (Jerod) Feasby of Van Wert; four brothers: Adrian (Donna) Utrup of Ottawa, Denny (Sandy) Utrup of Columbus Grove, DeWayne (Pam) Utrup of Columbus Grove, and Calvin Utrup of Columbus Grove; 3 sisters: Darlene (Karl) Miller of Kalida, Sandy (Jim) Tourjee of Columbus Grove and Jeaneen (Gary) Warnecke of Columbus Grove. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kristen Utrup.
Jerry was a 1963 graduate of Columbus Grove High School and joined the National Guard in 1964. He was a maintenance Supervisor for Philips of Ottawa and owner of Utrup Metal Works. Jerry was a lifetime member of the NRA, a life member and past president of Leipsic fishing & hunting association, and was a member of Kalida fish & game club, Cloverdale game club, Ottawa Eagles and AMVETS. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018 at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Glandorf, officiated by Fr Tony Fortman. Burial will follow in church cemetery with military rites by Ottawa VFW and AMVETS. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, OTTAWA, where there will be a scripture service at 1:45 p.m. and a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to St Jude Children's Hospital.
