Gerald "Gerry" Vorst

KALIDA – Gerald "Gerry" Vorst, 60, of Kalida, passed away at 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Mercy Health Putnam Medical Center, Glandorf.  He was born October 14, 1962, in Lima to Richard F. and Wilma R. (Meyer) Vorst, his father is deceased, and his mother survives in Kalida.  On September 24, 1988, he married Kathleen "Kathy" Averesch, she also survives in Kalida.

Gerry is also survived by two children: Alexis (Brandon Hoffman) Vorst and Nathan Vorst, both of Kalida; and six siblings: Kevin (Becky) Vorst of Ayersville, Sharon (Elmer) Meyer, Brenda (Brian) Maag, both of Glandorf, Steve (Kathy) Vorst of Delphos, Scott (Brenda) Vorst of Kalida, and Tracy (Brian) Siefker of Glandorf.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Joseph and Mary Meyer and August and Mary Vorst.

Gerry was an engineer for General Dynamics, Lima.  He was a member St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida.  Gerry was also a member of the Kalida Lion's, Kalida Fish and Game, Kalida K of C, Ottawa Eagles, and the Kalida School Board.  He was an official for Volleyball and Basketball.

A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 31, 2022, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Nathan Bockrath officiating.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township and again on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church.
