Gertrude E. Hoffman
GLANDORF – Gertrude E. Hoffman, 96, of Glandorf, died at 2:15 A.M. June 16, 2012 at the Meadows of Ottawa-Glandorf. She was born February 10, 1916 in Glandorf to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Ossege) Hoffman. Also preceding her in death was a brother: Frederick Hoffman. She lived her entire life in the house she was born although her last years were spent at the Meadows of Ottawa-Glandorf. She is survived by good friends, nurses and neighbors
Gertrude was a graduate of Glandorf High School and taught a short time in Celina. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf where she taught CCD and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. Her love was politics, a strong Republican all her life, and she was Putnam County Republican Chairwoman for 8 years. She was invited and did attend Richard Nixon's Inauguration in Washington DC in the 1960's. She enjoyed traveling and spent time in nearly half the states in our country and many countries in Europe.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to mass at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
