Gertrude "Trudy" Reed
South Bend, IN – Gertrude "Trudy" Reed, 81, of South Bend, IN died 6:52 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015 in Kalida, Ohio. She was born March 6, 1934 in South Bend, IN to the late Francis and Helene (Gleisman) Redfern. On November 29, 1952 she married Arthur Reed who died April 8, 2007.
Trudy is survived by two children: Michael (Joan) Reed of Springfield, IL, Vickie (Bill) Goedde of Kalida, OH; five grandchildren: Wendy (Josh) Freidrich of Springfield, IL, Carol (Shannon) Donley of Quincy, IL, Dawn Goedde of Hilliard, OH, Matthew (Lori) Goedde of West Liberty, OH, Nathan (Alisha) Goedde of Kalida, OH; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister Bette Rex.
Trudy was retired as a head cook for Swanson Elementary School, but stayed busy in retirement, by volunteering at Copshaholm, spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her dog Maggie.
A memorial service will be held 12:00 pm, Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend. Rev.Chuck Wotring, pastor of Northway Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Home Health and Hospice.
