Gladys E. Restle

LEIPSIC – Gladys E. Restle, 84, of Leipsic, passed away at 10:50 p.m., Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the Meadows of Ottawa.  She was born January 7, 1938, in Kenton to the late Glenn N. and Hester (Wilcox) Willeke. On December 27, 1959, she married James I. Restle, who preceded her in death on April 28, 2012.

Survivors include three children: Larry Restle of Cincinnati, Jim Restle of Toledo and Julie (James) Borchuck of St. Petersburg, FL; two grandchildren: Ava Borchuck and Emma Borchuck; five siblings: Wilbur (Wilma) Willeke of Ada, Wanda Yoerg of Amhurst, NY, Carol Windau of Crestview, FL, Joyce Willeke of Columbus and Larry (Judy) Willeke of Ashburn, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers-in-law: Ken Yoerg, Tom Windau and Jim Gillen; as well as multiple beloved extended relatives.

Gladys attended BGSU, where she earned her teaching certificate.  She worked as a lifelong substitute teacher and after school tutor, as well as a piano teacher.  Gladys was a member of Gilboa United Methodist Church, where she was the organist and a prayer warrior.  She was also the organist for First Lutheran Church, Leipsic and Leipsic United Methodist Church.  Gladys loved to serve her community and volunteered at the Leipsic Library, the Meadows of Leipsic and the election poll.  She loved to read, was an avid sewer, quilter and gardener. Gladys was the complete embodiment of unconditional love.  She loved her children, grandchildren and doting on her pets.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2023 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Pastor Ruth Carter-Crist officiating.  Burial will follow at Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic. Visitation will be held 2 – 7 p.m. on Thursday and again on Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
