Glen Ray Klingler

OAKWOOD – Glen Ray Klingler, 97 of Oakwood, died 10:22 a.m., Friday, November 17, 2023 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice.  He was born May 10, 1926 in Paulding to the late Grover and Myrtle (Franklin) Klingler.  He was previously married to Patricia Pratt on September 14, 1946.  She died in October of 1979.  On February 10, 1973, he married Nancy Hayner and she survives in Oakwood.

Other survivors include three children: Sue Meeks of Findlay, Doug (Amie) Klingler of Aurthur and Jacci Henry of Findlay; three stepchildren: Tony (Deb) Lambert of Defiance, Gina (Pat) Sensabaugh of Cecil and Rebecca Lambert of Defiance; 4 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 8 step-great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bob Meeks; and five siblings: Hap Klingler, Lavone Adams, Betty Lloyd, Eva Grunden and Edna Shaffer.

Glen worked in the garage at Reinhart Chevy of Paulding and retired from Dinnerbell Foods in Defiance.  He was a US Navy Veteran serving during WWII.  From 1944 to 1945 he was on the submarine Chaser as a fireman and electrician in the South Pacific Theatre.  He was wounded in the Philippines but awarded a Purple Heart and other metals.  Glen was a member of Auglaize Chapel Church of God, Continental American Legion and life member of the Defiance Am Vets.  He loved his children and enjoyed fishing, tinkering, collecting, Harley Davidson and music.

Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Auglaize Chapel Church of God with Pastor Stan Harmon officiating.  Burial will follow in Prairie Chapel Cemetery Oakwood.  Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, OAKWOOD and one hour prior to the funeral Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to CHP of Paulding, Gideon Bibles or Auglaize Chapel Church of God.
