Guy I. Kemp
WINTER HAVEN, FL.- Guy I. Kemp, 95, of Winter Haven, FL, formerly of Lima, died at 5:49 a.m. Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky. He was born March 22, 1919 in Lima. On September 28, 1940 he married his wife of 67 years, Martha C. Warniment who died April 4, 2008.
Survivors include a son: Thomas (Connie) Kemp of Dublin; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law: Dan (Liz) Kinninger of Fountain Hills, AZ. He was also preceded in death by a daughter: Karen S. Kinninger.
Guy retired from Westinghouse and the Ford Motor Company in Lima and then continued to work as a blacksmith-boilermaker welder traveling throughout the United States working on coal, gas, and nuclear power plants and boilers. He served in the U.S. Navy (Seabees) "Can Do" during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was a life member of the Lima VFW post 1275, the Disabled Veteran Association, and the Lima Knights of Columbus; and a member of the Good Sams Club. He enjoyed traveling in his trailer with his wife, Martha and talking to people they met along the way.
The family wants to extend a special thanks to all the employees at the Ohio Veterans Home, especially those on the 3 North Unit.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria with Fr. Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the New Bavaria VFW and Ottawa VFW, American Legion and AMVETS. Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
