Harold E. Otto

LEIPSIC - Harold E. Otto, 81 of Leipsic, died 2:45 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.  He was born May 31, 1935 in McComb to the late Urban and Florence (Wingate) Otto.  On March 6, 1999 he married Shirley Haughn and she survives in Leipsic.

Other survivors include two children: Nancy (Tom) Frankart of Leipsic and John (Gay) Otto of Enid, OK; three step-children: Owen (Nancy) Russell  Douglasville, GA, Cynthia (Hal) Jackson of Westerville and Jocelyn (Brian) Abbott of Leipsic; four grandchildren: Andrew (Connie) Frankart, Aaron (Mollie) Frankart, Justin (Brenna) Otto and Sarah Otto; four step-grandchildren: Katherine Jackson, Sarah Jackson, Kyle Abbott and Ethan Abbott; and six great-grandchildren: Shana, Brenna, Lindsay, Cole, Cale and Seth Frankart.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Otto and a sister, Marjorie Elder.

Harold was a bus driver for the Leipsic Local School District.  He was a farmer and lived most of his life in Van Buren Township, Putnam County where he was a township trustee for 16 years and a 4-H member for 10 years organizing the Electric and Tractor Maintenance.  He was also a member and served the former Belmore United Methodist Church as officer and trustee.  After its closure, he attended Leipsic United Methodist Church and New Beginnings United Methodist Church in Deshler.

Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Pastor Steve Weatherly officiating.  Burial will follow in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic.  Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
