KALIDA – Helen L. Korte, 76, of Kalida died at 10:05 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born June 9, 1936 in Delphos to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Pohlman) Brickner. On August 29, 1953 she married Elmer E. Korte who survives in Kalida.
Also surviving are 5 children: Jan (Gary) Schroeder of Kalida, Joyce (Michael) Selhorst of Columbus Grove, Julie (David) Horstman of Kalida, William (Sheila) Korte of Ottawa, and Jeff (Ann) Korte of Kalida; 15 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Richard and Harold Brickner and 2 sisters: Lucille Nartker and Edith Holiday.
Helen was a homemaker and had worked at Calvary Manor Nursing Home in Glandorf. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida and its Rosary Altar Society. She was a former sacristan who loved praying the rosary. She really enjoyed country music especially listening to the Country Gentlemen. Helen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family and her dog, Foxy. Helen collected angels and now she is one.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township (corner of St. Rts. 224 & 634) where there will be a Rosary Altar rosary at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to The American Heart Association.
