Helen Marie Marriott

DEFIANCE - Helen Marie Marriott, 99, Defiance, formerly of Continental, died Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 1:28 pm at GlennPark, Defiance Ohio.

She was born June 15, 1923, in Perry Township, Putnam County to Clyde Castle and Edna Caroline (Halbgewoks) Carder.  She attended the Palestine one room school and later graduated from Continental Palmer High School in 1941.  Her working years were spent working for the Continental Bank, retiring as assistant cashier in 1988.

On March 5, 1952, she was united in marriage to Lewis Frederick 'Mike' Marriott.  After Mike's retirement they were able to enjoy fishing, camping, and spending some time in Florida.  After Mike's death on December 15, 1990, she wintered in Bradenton, Florida until 2014. Helen loved to travel with Mike and later on with her late sister, Margene (Dale) Weller.  Together they made numerous trips and were active with Putnam County Council on Aging.   She truly never met a stranger and could find a connection with everyone.

Helen was proceeded in death by her parents and a sister, Eleanor.  She is survived by her brother John (Barbra) Carder of Defiance, a sister-in-law, Fay Dosek of Lima and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Memorials can be made to Putnam County Council on Aging, 1425 East Fourth Street, Ottawa OH  45875.

Her family would like to thank everyone who helped out "Aunt Helen" remain living independently in Continental and after she moved to GlennPark of Defiance.   Special thanks are due to her neighbors, Staff at Mercy Clinic, and her family at GlennPark.

No services will be held at this time.  Arrangements are under the direction of HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental.
