GLANDORF - Helen Marie Honigfort, 80, of Glandorf passed away peacefully at 1:22 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017 at The Meadows of Ottawa. She was born January 1, 1937 in Putnam County, to the late Louis and Matilda (Maas) Edelbrock. On April 12, 1958, she married Robert Honigfort who preceded her in death on August 21, 2006.
Survivors include a son: Steven (Brigitte) Honigfort of Kenton; 5 daughters: Linda Leslie (Michael Malin) of Seminole, FL, Pamela (Kevin) Maag of Glandorf, Jan (Randy) Kraegel of Gilbert, AZ, Lori (Barry) McCullough of Lima, and DeeDee (John) Lehman of Glandorf; 12 grandchildren: Nick, Brian, and Jennifer Honigfort, Brent Hughes, Kyle Maag, Abby (Jim) Beckman, Jeff (Samantha) and Zach Kraegel, Nathan and Cody McCullough, Adam and Hannah Lehman; 3 step-grandchildren: Tiffany Thomas, Christina Hooe, and Cody Thomas; 5 great-grandchildren: Jaylin Honigfort, Brendon Hooe, Kainan Kraegel, and Nora and Beau Beckman; 3 sisters: Dorothy (Devon) Alles of New Haven, IN, Marie Hoyt of Ottawa, and Diane Mixa of Trinity, FL. She was preceded in death by a son: Jeffery Honigfort; a son-in-law: David Leslie; and a brother-in-law: Richard Hoyt.
Helen retired from Putnam Acres Care Center after 30 years of service. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf. Her family was very important and she made dinner every Sunday. She loved spending her winters in Arizona away from the cold. When home, she loved walking, spending time with her special friends at the YMCA, watching NASCAR and following the Titans. She enjoyed vacations with her 3 sisters making priceless memories. Helen also enjoyed crocheting and made baby blankets for her grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2017 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Glandorf at a later date. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2017 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. A scripture service will begin at 1:45 p.m. and Parish Rosary at 7:30 p.m. both Sunday at the funeral home.
