Helen Joan Compton

OTTAWA - Helen Joan Compton, 95 of Ottawa passed away 11:08 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at the Meadows of Kalida.  She was born January 4, 1925 in Gilboa to the late Arthur and Mary (Clymer) Gable.  She graduated from Blanchard High School in 1942, where she was involved in many school activities.

On November 22, 1947 she married Alvin "Jiggs" Compton, he preceded her in death on November 20, 2002.

Joan is survived by a son: Gary (Diane) Compton of Lima.  Also surviving are her grandsons:  Jeff (Cherie) Compton and David (Shelly) Compton, both of Ottawa; as well as great-grandchildren: Abigail, Zachary, Brett, Sarah, Isaac, Paige, Becca and Noah; and great-great-grandchildren: Elena and Evangaline.

She is preceded in death by her only sibling: Martha (Paul) Martin.

Joan was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa.

Due to the restrictions regarding public gatherings, a private funeral service will be held Friday, May 8, 2020.  A private burial will follow in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa.  Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
