Helen V. Kerner

OTTAWA – Helen V.  Kerner, 82, of Ottawa, passed away at 11:57 p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2022, at the Meadows of Ottawa.  She was born July 2, 1940, in Miller City to the late Richard and Frances (Balbaugh) Lause.  On May 6, 1961, she married Joseph Kerner, he preceded her in death on May 14, 2001.

Helen is survived by two children: Dennis (Dianna) Kerner and Sandra (Howard) Hermiller, both of Ottawa; eight grandchildren: Tyson (Allison) Kerner, Nicole (Justin) Gunka, Derek (Brittany) Kerner, Brett (C.C.) Kiracofe, Brittany (Ashley) Hoyte, Paig Hermiller, Korynne (Levi) Creamer, and Cassandra Hermiller; ten great-grandchildren and one on the way; a brother: Richard (Marlene) Lause of Toledo; and a sister: Marilyn Verhoff of Ottawa.

She is preceded in death by a brother, Don (Donna) Lause.

Helen had worked at WeatherSeal and then Walmart.  She loved flowers, gardening, crocheting Afghans for her family and Kevin the cat.  Helen enjoyed watching her grandkids sporting events.

A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022, at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa, officiated by Fr. Scott Kramer.  Burial will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
