HELEN L. SEHLHORST
KALIDA - Helen L. Sehlhorst, 82, of Kalida, died 5:15 a.m., Sunday, April 7, 2013 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born June 19, 1930, in Lima, to the late Leo and Louise (Kahle) Unverferth. On June 25, 1949, she married, Bernard Sehlhorst. He died December 19, 2007.
Survivors include her children Dennis (Anne) Sehlhorst of Toledo, Roger (Fiancé, Karen Allen) Sehlhorst of Kalida, Joe (Barb) Sehlhorst of Kalida, Diane (Lee) Recker of Glandorf, Pat (Mike) Meyer of Ottawa and Nancy (Kris) Schnipke of Kalida; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Paul Schmidt of Continental and a sister-in-law, Flossie Sehlhorst of Columbus Grove.
She was preceded in death also by 2 brothers: Jerry Unverferth and Denis Unverferth and 3 sisters: Dorothy Lyle, Marie Jane Schmidt and Alice Gerding.
Helen worked for 25 years at the Kalida IGA. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church Kalida and its Rosary Altar Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She enjoyed bowling and developed the Reading Assistance Program at Kalida Elementary. Helen was a devoted wife, loving nurturing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and loyal caring friend. She actively lived her faith everyday and her devotion to prayer was an inspiration to all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township where a CL of C rosary service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
