Henry J. Verhoff
Ottawa - Henry J. Verhoff, 85, of Ottawa died 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at The Meadows of Kalida. He was born in February of 1929 in Cuba, Ohio to the late Sylvester and Apollonia (Siebeneck) Verhoff. In May of 1959, he married Rita Peiffer who died in July of 2007.
Henry is survived by four children: Patrick, Vincent, Roger (Cherrie) and Theresa; 7 grandchildren; a great-grandchild and two sisters: Lucille Ellerbrock and Sr. Margaret Verhoff, OSF. He is preceded in death by a infant son: Sylvester; a grandson: Steven; son-in-law: Mark and a brother: James.
Henry was a realtor, auctioneer and salesman. He was a devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf; always carried his rosary and was opened to share his faith. He served as a veteran of the US Army and a lifetime member of the Ottawa VFW. Henry loved farming and was a great storyteller and a people person.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by Ottawa American Legion, Am Vets and VFW. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be given to St. John the Baptist Church, Glandorf.
