Herbert F. Scheckelhoff
OTTAWA – Herbert F. Scheckelhoff, 76, of Ottawa died at 4:16 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. He was born August 29, 1935 in New Cleveland to the late Rudolph and Catherine (Inkrott) Scheckelhoff. On September 8, 1956 he married Mary M. Siebeneck who survives in Ottawa.
Also surviving are 4 children: Dave (Kathy) Scheckelhoff of Ottawa, Pamela (Michael) Holdcroft of Galena, Dean (Barbara) Scheckelhoff of Perrysburg, and Glen (Carrie) Scheckelhoff of Columbus; 13 grandchildren: Kristy (Rich) Krehnovi, Brad, Jamie, Terri, Dylan, Sydney, Bailey, Ruby, Jake, and Benjamin Scheckelhoff, Casey, Allison, and Nicholas Holdcroft; 3 great-grandchildren: Levi and Tanner Vogt, and Claire Krehnovi; 3 brothers: Roy (Irma) Scheckelhoff, Earl (Jeanie) Scheckelhoff, and Jim (Mary Lou) Scheckelhoff all of Ottawa; and 2 sisters: Marilyn (Delbert) Westrick and Wilma Radabaugh both of Ottawa.
He was also preceded in death by a son: Nick Scheckelhoff; a sister: Alice Herring; a sister and brother-in-law: Janet and Tom Schroeder; and a brother-in-law: Charles Radabaugh.
Herbert was retired from AEP after 37 years. He was a line crew supervisor. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa where he had been a church councilman. Herbert was a member of Ottawa Eagles, a social member of Ottawa VFW and served on the Ottawa Park Board.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a scripture service at 2:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Bridge Hospice Care Center of Findlay, St. Jude's Hospital, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
