Howard H. Weller
CONTINENTAL – Howard H. Weller, 87, of Continental, died 10:25 p.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at his residence. He was born October 22, 1928, in North Creek to the late Edward H. and Flossie C. (Ernsberger) Weller. On May 7, 1950 at Hartsburg United Methodist Church, he married Lois M. Wight and she survives in Continental.
Other survivors include two children: Michael (Jane) Weller of Continental and Virginia (Robert) Wesche of Defiance; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren; a step great-great grandchild; two sisters: Erma Grant of Kalida and Naomi Yingling of Ottawa; and a brother: Arden (Kay) Weller of North Creek.
Howard was a dairyman until 1994 as well as a lifelong grain farmer. He was a member of Continental United Methodist Church, the former Hartsburg United Methodist Church, Sharon Grange, Putnam County Farm Bureau and Putnam County Dairy Board. Howard was very innovative in farming and was one of the first farmers to use the no-till and cover crop methods.
Funeral service will begin 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Continental United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Schmunk officiating. Burial will be private in Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016 and one hour prior to the service Thursday all at the church.
Memorial donations may be given to the Continental Library or Continental United Methodist Church.
