OTTOVILLE – Irene M. Miller, 89, of Ottoville, passed away at 9:59 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Lima Memorial Hospital. She was born November 16, 1934, in Lima to the late Jacob and Veronica (Ricker) Burgei. On April 13, 1955, she married Ralph A. Miller, he preceded her in death on November 17, 1999.
Irene is survived by four daughters: Sandra (Todd) Wannemacher, Joyce (Mike) Basinger, Angie (Allan) Honigford, and Becky (Kevin) Krouskop, all of Ottoville; a son-in-law: Kevin Logan of St. Mary's; thirteen grandchildren: Justin and Weston Spencer, Ty Wannemacher, Stacey Brooks-Wannemacher, Tammy Smith, Ashley Crossgrove, Colbey Basinger, Amy Miller, Tricia Smith, Cory Honigford, Abby, Kendra, and Alex Krouskop; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister: Norma Vonderembse of Delphos, and a sister-in-law: Norma Burgei of Ottoville.
She is preceded in death by two daughters: Nancy (Jim) Spencer, and Sue Logan; three brothers: Orville, John, and Tom Burgei; and four sisters: Alma Minnig, Rosemary Pohlman, Ruth Pohlman and Gertrude Rode.
Irene was a very active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, which included flower committee and the choir. As a music director, she was involved in the adult choir and started the children's choir. For many years she directed a children's Christmas Play. Irene also helped start the women's summer slow pitch program, which she coached for many years, and she also started the summer t-ball program. She was also a member of Ottoville VFW Auxiliary.
Funeral Mass will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with Very Reverend George Mahas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. with a scripture service at 1:45 p.m., and again on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.
