Jack Dempsey Lassiter
OAKWOOD – Jack Dempsey Lassiter took his last breath on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at his residence in Oakwood. He was born October 28, 1960, in Paulding to the late Jack and Martha (Babcock) Lassiter-Theis. On May 16, 1981, he married Lori Fellers and together they started their family and new beginning of life journeys.
Jack was a self-employed carpenter/construction worker for many years until he became a co-owner of REAL Waste Disposal, LLC. Over the course of his life, he loved farming, hunting, fishing, building things, landscaping, and going to drag races, but most of all he loved working on trucks and his ’65 Chevelle SS. After hours of working, he liked to relax and “shoot the breeze” with his team, who are like family at REAL Waste.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years; his daughter: Jennifer (Craig) Lloyd; his son: Ryan (Lindsay) Lassiter, both of Oakwood; two grandsons: Colton (Jacquelyn) Lloyd of Liberty Center, and Gage (Ashley) Lloyd of Oakwood; his brothers: Jack (Bonnie) Lassiter, Jr of California, John Lassiter of Oakwood, and Arnold Theis of Defiance; his sisters: Deb (Ed) Thrasher of Melrose, Cindy (Chuck) AuFrance of Paulding, Brenda (Joe) Stahl of Grover Hill, and Kitty (Harold) Adkins of Oakwood; brothers-in-law: Jeff (Shelly) Fellers of Michigan, Shawn (Angie) Fellers of Swanton; sisters-in-law: Karen (Bud) Cohan of Oakwood, Patty Wampler of Pea Ridge, AR., and Cindy Fellers of Charloe; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents: Jack and Martha, and stepfather, Arnold Theis; niece: Angel; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Harold and Margaret Fellers; brothers-in-law: Steve McNeely and Aaron Fellers; and sisters-in-law: Cindy, Stephanie and Holly Fellers.
Jack wanted no service and no funeral. Just kick back…shoot the breeze…tip the can…and remember the man. He will be sadly missed by all.
