Jager Stanley “Trey” Burgei

KALIDA – Jager Stanley “Trey” Burgei, 19, of Kalida, passed away at 3:07 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2026, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He was born September 7, 2006, in Flint Michigan.

Survivors include his parents: Stanley Smith Jr. and Devanettie LaFuze-Harris, Joe and Amy (Schroeder) Burgei; seven siblings: Mia Burgei, Olivia Burgei, Gabriella Burgei, Davion Featheroff, Javion Featheroff, Xavier Helton, Emmanuel Helton; grandparents: Steve (Carol) Burgei, Marcus (Debra) Schroeder, Dequincy (Sherri) Passmore, Sr. and Ivory Gipson; aunts and uncles: Laura (Clint) Rieke, Catherine Schroeder, Charles Schroeder, Nathan Schroeder, Deserae (Aaron) Sanders, Dekeila Passmore; several aunts and uncles on his father’s side; and the love of his life, Addie Brokamp. He is also survived by many beloved cousins and close special friends: Jayden, Zeke, DJ, Ethan and many others.

He was preceded in death by brother, Cameron Choate-Harris.

Jager worked at McDonald’s in Findlay. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida. Jager was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Flag City Phantoms. He loved riding motorcycles, playing football for Ottawa-Glandorf High School, where he also ran track, and hanging out with his friends and family. Jager recently graduated high school online and had planned to be a military police officer with the US Army. Jager stayed with his Aunt Deserae and Uncle Aaron and enjoyed playing with his little cousins. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 30, 2026, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Phil Smith officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, with a tribute service beginning at 7 p.m. and 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. The family would like to encourage friends and family to wear their favorite team gear attire for the visitation.
