James R. "Bud" Kirkendall

CONTINENTAL – James R. "Bud" Kirkendall, 94, of Continental, died 7:06.p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Pomerene Hospital, Millersburg, OH while visiting one of his favorite places, Amish Country.  He was born May 18, 1922 in Continental, to the late Ralph and Joycie (Troyer) Kirkendall. On September 27, 1942 he married his wife of 72 years Marvel J. Heffley who died June 6, 2015.  The two have finally been reunited in Heaven.

He is survived by a daughter, Diane (Ray) Spaeth of Arlington; a son-in-law, Larry Bruce of Morenci, MI; four grandchildren: Kirsten (Jon) Mignin, Kirk (Shannon Connelly) Bruce, Alicia (John) Molina and Connor Spaeth; six great-grandchildren: Blake (Sarah) Raab, Brianna Raab, Cayden Mignin, Kalleigh Mignin, Anthony Molina and Colton Molina; a great-great grandchild, Blaire Raab; and a sister, Alieen Gordon of AZ.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Bruce; a brother, Howard Kirkendall and two sisters: Marguerite Belleville and Helen Stinson.

Bud was a life long farmer.  He retired from Philips Display formerly of Ottawa and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Continental.  He loved his time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Pastor Charles Schmunk officiating.  Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental.  Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
