James R. Burman
PANDORA – James R. Burman, 83, of Pandora died at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at the Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. He was born June 26, 1933 in Putnam County, Pleasant Township, to the late Walter and Wilma (Miller) Burman. On October 6, 1957 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa, he married LoAnn Inbody and she survives in Pandora.
Also surviving are three sons, Robert (Janice) Burman of Pandora, Douglas (Valerie) Burman of Bluffton, and Gregory (Carla) Burman of Benton Ridge; six grandchildren, Jeremy Burman, Christine (Michael) Jordan, Michael Burman, Ryan (Jen) Burman, Elizabeth Burman, and Andrew Burman; three great-grandchildren, Jude, Ramona, and Rori; and a sister, Alice Slusser of Vaughnsville. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Burman, a son, David Burman, and a sister, Lila Burman.
James was retired from Philips, formerly of Ottawa. He served in the Air Force as a radio operator for four years and then in the reserves for an additional four years. He attended the United Methodist Church and had been a scout leader. James enjoyed working with his hands doing woodworking, leather, art work, gardening, bird watching, and being outdoors. He also enjoyed all types of music and singing, especially Barber Shop Quartets.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with Pastor Rick Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa with military rites by the Ottawa American Legion, VFW, and Am Vets. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
