James R. Croy

OTTAWA – James R. "Jim" Croy, 72, of Ottawa, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf. He was born October 29, 1951, in Lima to the late James A. and Sara (Utz) Croy.  On December 8, 1973, he married Deborah Schultz, who preceded him in death on August 16, 2021.

Survivors include a son, Jameson (Jennifer) Croy of Ottawa; four grandchildren: Jacob, Jordan, Jillian and Jaxson Croy;  and three siblings: Kathryn (Rod) Plessner of Bryan, Susan Norton of Salem, SC and Paul (Julie) Croy of Waterville.

Jim retired from Whirlpool in Ottawa. He had previously owned and operated The Watering Can. Jim's remarkable faith, love for his family, passion for his hobbies, gardening, love of nature and overall care for everyone he met, will forever be his legacy. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren, family and neighbors. Jim also enjoyed reading, carving, fishing, mushroom hunting and four wheeling. He was kind and compassionate with a steadfast faith. Jim will be deeply missed and his passions will live on in the lessons he taught those he cared for.
