James S. "Jim" Hamilton

KALIDA – James S. "Jim" Hamilton, 81, of Kalida died 2:35 a.m. Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the Meadows of Kalida.  He was born April 26, 1935 in Kalida to the late Russell and Leona (Unverferth) Hamilton.  On September 15, 1956 he married Elizabeth "Betty" Kahle, who survives in Kalida.

Also surviving are Jim's 3 children:  Vicki (Roger) Winkle of Kalida, Jamie (Marie) Hamilton of Kalida and Kelly (Paul) Gerten of Ottawa; 11 Grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way; and 4 Step Great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by 3 brothers:  Robert Hamilton, Paul Hamilton and Ronnie Hamilton and 5 sisters:  Lucille Meyer, Pauline "Pinky" Brinkman, Betty Hamilton, Jean Wehri, and Donna Belle Knippen.

Jim retired after 39 ½ years of service from Philips, Ottawa.  He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida and its Holy Name Society.  He was also a member of the Kalida Fish and Game Club and the Ottawa Eagles Lodge.  He enjoyed turtle trapping and hunting, watching racing, and enjoyed gardening and had quite a green thumb.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Mark Hoying officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township where a scripture service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
