James I. Restle

Leipsic – James I. Restle, 80, of Leipsic died 7:35 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa. He was born June 2, 1931 in Mansfield to the late Alanson C. and Lillian W. (Waltereit) Restle. On December 27, 1959, he married Gladys Willeke who survives in Leipsic.

James is also survived by 3 children: Larry of Cincinnati, Jim of Toledo, Julie (James) Restle-Borchuck of St. Petersburg, Florida; and 2 granddaughters: Ava and Emma Borchuck. He is also preceded in death by a sister: Marjorie Restle Stull; and a brother: Alanson Restle.

James was a retired school teacher from Leipsic Local School. He also taught at Hardin Northern and Forest High School. He graduated from Fremont High School, Ashland College and received his master's degree from Bowling Green State University. While at Ashland he was on the track team and the undefeated football team. He was the manager of Ashland State Championship Little League team in 1956 and coached football and track during his teaching career. He enjoyed coaching but his first love was teaching history. He spent many summers camping with his family traveling all over the United States. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Leipsic and a trustee of Putnam County Historical Society.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012 at First Lutheran Church, Leipsic with Pastor George Zornow officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
