James "Jim" Riepenhoff
MILLER CITY – James "Jim" Riepenhoff, 89, of Miller City, passed away at 8:44 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at his residence. He was born April 18, 1934, in Miller City to the late Ben and Elizabeth (Schroeder) Riepenhoff. On September 26, 1956, he married Dorothy Selhorst, who preceded him in death on October 31, 1995. On January 24, 1997, he married Jane (Scheckelhoff) Wagner, who survives in Miller City.
Other survivors include five children: Jean (Chuck) Anderson of Indianapolis, IN, Jeff (Carolyn) Riepenhoff, John (Julie) Riepenhoff, both of Miller City, Julie (Keith) Hamburg of Kalida and Joyce (Bryan) Kuhlman of New Cleveland; two stepchildren: Terry (Laura) Wagner of Glandorf and Lynn (Ron) Deitering of McComb; a step daughter-in-law, Deb Wagner; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two siblings: Lucille Shields and Rita (Herman) Schmenk; a brother-in-law, Bob Zwyer; and a sister-in-law, Norma Riepenhoff.
He was also preceded in death by a stepson, Greg Wagner; a grandchild, Michael Riepenhoff; seven siblings: Clarence (Esther) Riepenhoff, Norma (Amos) Recker, Mary (Arnold) Nartker, Clara (Berkey) Schroth, Ruth (Joe) Smith, Eleanor Zwyer and Len Riepenhoff; and a brother-in-law, Ty Shields.
Jim was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City, Ottawa Knights of Columbus, Miller City Volunteer Fire Department and Miller City Sportsman Club. Jim loved traveling, bowling, throwing horseshoes, playing cards and spending time with his friends and family.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City with Fr. Scott Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to Mass on Thursday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. A scripture service will be held at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Hospice or St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City for Masses.
