James L. Schimmoeller
Ft. Jennings - James L. Schimmoeller, 87, of Ft. Jennings, died 4:44 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born October 13, 1925 in Ft. Jennings to the late Lawrence G. and Ida R. (Kaverman) Schimmoeller. On May 19, 1951, he married Margaret G. Ricker who survives in Ft. Jennings.
James is survived by 4 children: Joe (Kelly) Schimmoeller of Lima, Carol (Ed) Odenweller of Delphos, Jan (Warren) Almond of Columbus and Bonnie (Bender) Miller of Ottoville; 3 brothers: Norm (Mickie) Schimmoeller, Jack (Marianne) Schimmoeller and Lou (Eileen) Schimmoeller, all of Ft. Jennings; 2 sisters: Alice (Cletus) Vetter of Hicksville and Betty (Orville) Neidert of Ft. Jennings; 2 sisters-in-law: Regina Schimmoeller of Delphos and Margaret Schimmoeller of Glandorf; 10 grandchildren Marie (Ralph) Mertz of Pickerington, Erin (Ryan) Van Pelt of Columbus, Jim (Jessica) Odenweller of Vandalia, Amy (Brandon) Paul of Columbus, Brad (Maureen) Schimmoeller of Columbus, Mike (Melissa) Odenweller of Whittington, England; Tara Schimmoeller of Cleveland, Wes (Sara) Almond of Columbus, Audrey (Nick) Scarbriel of Cincinnati and Austin Miller of Ottoville and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Ken Schimmoeller and Richard Schimmoeller.
James retired in 1988 after 36 years as repair service manager for Bindel's Furniture & Appliance Store. He was a veteran of the USAir Force during WWII serving as a corporal. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings and member of the Parish Council, instrumental in construction of the Church. He was a member of Ft. Jennings American Legion Post #715; Stroke Club, Lima; Ft. Jennings Fire Department, serving 25 years, 4-H advisor for 28 years and Ft. Jennings's Park Board. James loved fishing, camping, golfing, bowling, gardening and eating chocolate chip cookies. He loved spending time with his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings, with Fr. Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Ft. Jennings with military graveside by Ft. Jennings's American Legion and Ottoville VFW. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township, corner of St. Rt. 224 and 634, with a rosary service at 6 p.m. Monday and a scripture service Tuesday at 2 p.m. and at 7 p.m. American Legion service and one hour prior to service at church on Wednesday..
In lieu of flowers, family would like memorials be given to St. Rita's Hospice.
