JANE M. GERDING
GLANDORF - Jane M. Gerding, 75, of Glandorf passed away at 8:15 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at her residence. She was born February 15, 1938, in Ottawa, the daughter of Vincent and Alma (Moening) Hermiller, who preceded her in death. On October 25, 1954, she married Norbert J. Gerding, who died September 7, 2006.
Survivors include her six children, Tom (Cheryl) Gerding, Jill Gerding, Jay Gerding, Jeff (Elaine) Gerding, Nick (Kim Barth) Gerding all of Glandorf and Jan (Keith) Cheney of Lima; a daughter-in-law, Lori Erhart of Ottawa; 10 grandchildren: Scott Gerding, Brad (Kate) Gerding, Trent Cheney, Jaymee (Adam) Nienberg, Nicholas (Barb Mercer) Gerding Jr., Mindy Radabaugh, Christopher Gerding, Ericka Gerding, Ashley Cheney and Kody Gerding; and 3 great-grandchildren on the way.
She was preceded in death by her son, Philip Gerding; a brother, Donald (Mildred) Hermiller and a sister, Joann Straurer (Bill) Hooker.
Jane had worked at the Glandorf Inn, Fischer Big Wheel, operated the meal site for the Area Agency on Aging, and helped her husband with their business, Gerding Excavating until 1984 when they sold it to their son. She also helped her husband for forty years with the Glandorf Cemetery.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and its Altar Rosary Society and Glandorf Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was a member of the Glandorf Fire Ladies of 43 years, a former Girl Scout troop leader, Tuesday Night Card Club and the GLL Club.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. A Rosary and CL of C service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
