Janelda T. Halker

LEIPSIC – Janelda T. Halker, 70, of Leipsic, died 1:27 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  She was born May 12, 1947 in Allen County, to the late Richard and Esther (Schumaker) Weis.  On September 12, 1970, she married Dennis Halker and he survives in Leipsic.

Other survivors include four children: Tracy (Tami) Halker of Powell, Stacy Halker of Leipsic, Kacy (Sean) Duling of Pandora and Bracy (Neoma) Halker of Jackson Center; eleven grandchildren; and four siblings: Rose Ann (Clete) Morman of Ottawa, Othmar (Eileen) Weis of Leipsic, Margaret (Bill) Schroeder of Columbus Grove and Janet (Ralph) Westrick of Leipsic.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ursula Weis; a brother, Dennis Weis and a special aunt, Agnes Schumaker.

Janelda had worked as an activity aide and was a homemaker.  She loved spending time with her family; especially the grandchildren whom she babysat regularly and attended programs and sporting events.  She enjoyed the company of friends and going out to eat.  Janelda loved going to church and planting flowers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 22, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. William Pifher officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at LOVE-HEITMEYER Funeral Home, Leipsic as well as one hour prior to the mass on Monday in the Parish Life Center at St. Mary's Church.
