Janet L. (Fralick) Steingass

LEIPSIC - Janet L. (Fralick) Steingass, age 84, of Leipsic, died May 6, 2025, at the Meadows of Leipsic. She was born March 16, 1941, in Leipsic to the late Floyd  and Beatrice (Kirtland) Fralick. On April 20, 1963, she married Glen Steingass, who died May 10, 2019.

She is survived by three children: Cindy (Gary) Buckland of Ottawa, Eric (Sue) Steingass of Leipsic and Becky (Steve) DeYoung of New Port Richey, Florida; seven grandchildren: Zachary (Jenna) Buckland, Joshua (Dani) Buckland, Madison DeYoung, Summer Steingass, Nicholas Buckland, Grant Steingass and Sierra Steingass; four great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Jocelyn, Jensyn and Raelyn Buckland; three sisters-in-law: Diane Greer, Pat Steingass and Emma Jean Dinkins; several nieces and nephews; and some very close friends. She loved and enjoyed these people dearly.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou (James) Stewart.

Janet was a member of the First Christian Church, Leipsic. She retired from the Putnam County District Library, Leipsic Branch after 20 plus years of service. She also previously worked as a secretary at Sylvania in Ottawa for 6 years and was Clerk-Treasurer of the Village of Leipsic for 8 years. In earlier years, she volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and taught Sunday School at First Christian Church, where she formerly served as a deaconess. She enjoyed traveling the United States with Glen (and sometimes with family and friends) at which they stepped foot in 49 of the 50 states (they did not get to Alaska). For over 20 years they were snowbirds in Florida, where they made many wonderful friends who were like family.

A Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Pastor Tim Eding officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 8th and an hour prior to the service of Friday.  She will be laid to rest at Sugar Ridge Cemetery.

Her family wants to thank everyone at the Armes Family Cancer Care Center, The Meadows of Leipsic and Bridge Hospice for the love, support and the care they extended to Janet during the past six months.
