Janet K. Mangas
LEIPSIC -- Janet K. Mangas, 71, of Leipsic died 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at her residence.  She was born May 14, 1942 in McComb, to the late Francis and Velma (Fruth) Logan.  On September 3, 1960 she married her high school sweetheart, Richard H. Mangas and he preceded her in death on March 18, 1993.
Surviving are her children: Doug (Denise) Mangas of Leipsic, Jill (Brad) Schroeder of Leipsic, and Jennifer Mangas of Cincinnati; a daughter-in-law:  Linda Mangas of Leipsic; 8 grandchildren: Nate Mangas, Nicole Mangas, Ryan Mangas, Ross Mangas, Reese Mangas, Ben Schroeder, Cassie Schroeder and Aric "Skip" Schroeder; and a brother:  Dale (Janice) Logan of Green Valley, AZ.  She loved her dog, Buffy as well.
She was also preceded in death by her son: Dan Mangas.
Janet was a retired aide for Putnam County Home Health and Hospice. She was a charter member of New Creation Lutheran Church, Ottawa where she was very active.  She lived a life of service providing meals and participating in bible studies. Janet was a 1960 Leipsic High School graduate, a longtime aide for Leipsic Local Schools and volunteer for the Host Mentor Program.  She loved trips to Amish Country where she developed close relationships with some of the residents of Holmes County.  She was known to everyone as "Grandma Janet" who was an avid Leipsic Viking sports fan, especially events her grandchildren participated in.
The funeral service for Janet will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013 at New Creation Lutheran Church, Ottawa with Rev. Kenneth Pollitz officiating.  Burial will follow in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Leipsic Viking Basketball Scoreboard Project.
