Janice M. Goergens
KALIDA – Janice M. Goergens, 60, of Kalida died 12:30 p.m., Saturday, October 17, 2026, at The Meadows of Kalida. She was born November 15, 1965, in Lima to Norbert and Sharon (Ellerbrock) Burgei. Her mother is deceased. Her father survives in Kalida. On October 7, 1989, she married Gregory Goergens and he survives in Kalida.
Other survivors include two sons: Chad (Morgan) Goergens of Kalida and Adam Goergens of Defiance; and two grandchildren: Zander and Sophie Goergens.
Janice was a commercial lines processor with Auto Owners Insurance in Lima for over 35 years. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida. Janice had a generous heart and a passion for helping others. In 2010, she gave the gift of life by donating a kidney to her mother, a beautiful testament to her love and selflessness. She enjoyed volunteering at The Meadows of Kalida, where she visited residents and formed connections with others, never knowing a stranger. She also enjoyed organizing bus trips, creating crafts, and scrapbooking.
Family was especially important to Janice, and she treasured the time she spent babysitting her grandson, Zander. She enjoyed staying active through aerobic classes, taking walks with her next-door friend, and riding bike trails with her husband. Each year, she took great pride in planting and tending to her flowers. Janice was also a member of St. Michael’s Parish Helping Hands, where she lovingly prepared desserts for funeral meals to support families in their time of loss.
Janice helped her husband with the family business, diligently keeping the books in order for as long as she was able. She also enjoyed spending time at Sycamore Lake Winery, where she loved making new friends and sharing good times. Through her generosity, kindness, and ability to make everyone feel welcome, Janice touched the lives of many and will be remembered for the love she shared with those around her.
Funeral mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 26, 2026. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m., Sunday and one hour prior to the funeral Monday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Twp.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Hospice or Donate Life (www.donatelife.net).
