Janice Elaine Crawfis
OTTAWA - Janice Huff Crawfis, 75, of Ottawa died at 12:52 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2016 at The Meadows of Ottawa. She was born December 16, 1940 in Wooster to Robert L. Huff and Ferne (Jackson) Huff who preceded her in death. On June 12, 1964 she married James David Crawfis, who survives in Ottawa.
She is also survived by her two sons: Michael (Kimberly) Crawfis of Canton, and Steven (Valerie) Crawfis of Sammamish, WA; three grandchildren: Nicholas, Logan, and Liam Crawfis; a brother: Donald (Susanne) Huff of Massillon; a niece: Tricia Knopp of Plainfield, IL; and great-nieces: Kari and Kelle.
Jan graduated from Orrville High School and from Bowling Green State University, where she met her husband Dave. After a short time living in Lorain, OH and El Paso, TX, Dave and Jan settled on the family farm southeast of Ottawa, where they lived until moving into Ottawa six years ago.
After a brief career in teaching, Jan became the fiscal officer for the Putnam County District Library System, where she retired in 2001 after 22 years. She was a member of the Ottawa Presbyterian Church for 49 years where she had served as Prayer Circle coordinator for 32 years. She also served as a Sunday School Teacher, choir member, and Endowment Fund coordinator. Jan loved animals and was a proud member of the Putnam Pet Pals. She also served on the Council on Aging Board and the Library Board. She volunteered at the Ottawa Food Pantry and The Meadows of Ottawa for many years.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday April 30, 2016 at the Ottawa Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be Friday April 29, 2016 at the Ottawa Presbyterian Church from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service, with Reverend Patrick Harley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jan's memory to the Ottawa Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund, Putnam Pet Pals, to the Friends of the Putnam County Library, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
