Janie A. Font

OTTAWA - Janie A. Font, 70, of Ottawa, died 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 23, 2021 at her residence. She was born March 18, 1951 in Lima to the late Paul and Daisy (Renner) Hitchcock. On June 18, 1983, she married George H. Font III, who preceded her in death on January 4, 1997.

Janie is survived by two children: Brandon Font of Findlay and George Font IV of Cincinnati; two brothers: Richard Hitchcock of Lima and William (Lori) Hitchcock of New Haven, IN; and two sisters: Paula Sue Wymer and Susan (Randy) Corson both of Columbus Grove.

She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Garry Wymer.

Janie was a 2nd grade teacher at Ottawa Elementary, then later an art teacher for Ottawa and Glandorf Elementary Schools until she retired in 2011. She was the financial secretary and member of the Ottawa Presbyterian Church and its choir, Friends of the Putnam County Library, Ottawa Glandorf Band Boosters and Ottawa Community Band.  She volunteered to help with the Ottawa Food Pantry and Ottawa Glandorf Quiz Bowl Team. Janie was also a former Cub Scout Den Leader. She enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing, gardening, reading, puzzles and music, especially playing with the dulcimer group.

Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Ottawa Presbyterian Church, Ottawa with Pastor Lance Wiesmann officiating.  Burial will follow at Sherman Cemetery, Oakwood. Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa and again on Saturday one hour prior to service at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to Ottawa Presbyterian Church or the Putnam County District Library.
