Jean Byrne

OTTOVILLE - Jean Byrne, 84, of Ottoville died at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Van Crest of Delphos. She was born March 8, 1933 in Cloverdale to the late John and Frances (German) Schnipke. On May 1, 1954 she married Robert Byrne who survives in Ottoville.

Also surviving are four children, Rick (Jayne) Byrne, Mike (Jean) Byrne, Carl (Nancy) Byrne and Shirley Wilhelm all of Ottoville; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Colletta Schimmoeller of Ft. Jennings; a brother, Tom Schnipke of Kalida; and a sister-in-law, Joanie Schnipke of Kalida. Jean was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Krystal Byrne; six brothers, Isidore "Ike" (Berthie) Schnipke, Mellitus (Frances) Schnipke, Vincent (Carmelita) Schnipke, Bill (Eleanore) Schnipke, Alfred (Mary Theresa) Schnipke, and Donald Schnipke; two sisters, Sr. Xavier Schnipke and LaDonna (Leo) Burgei; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Schnipke; and a brother-in-law, Donald Schimmoeller.

Jean retired from Eaton Corp, Van Wert after 25 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, its Rosary Altar Society, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She loved putting puzzles together with her grandchildren and had a love of music, especially the piano and accordion.  Jean enjoyed gardening and planting flowers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with the Very Reverend Jerome Schetter and Fr. John Stites officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township where there will be a Scripture Service at 1:30 p.m.
