JEAN A. CROY
OTTAWA - Jean A. Croy, 78 of Ottawa died 9:19 a.m. Sunday, September 14, 2014 at her residence. She was born April 7, 1936 in De Graff, OH to the late Robert and Irene (Porteus) King. On October 2, 1954, she married Donald R. "Pete" Croy and he preceded her in death April 6, 2013.
She is survived by her children: Don (Teresa) Croy, Deb (Chuck) Inkrott, Diane (Mark) Fuerst and Daryl (Diane) Croy all of Ottawa; 10 grandchildren: Jeff (Cari) Croy, Lyle (Amee) Croy, Brian (Kendall) Inkrott, Jason (Laura) Inkrott, Mark (Kendra) Unterbrink, Kevin (Holly) Unterbrink, Alison (Aaron) Teders, Curt (Kayla) Croy, Mitch (Brittany) Croy and Nolan Croy; 2 step-grandchildren: Meghan (Craig) Baldauf and Micah (Krista) Fuerst; 17 great-grandchildren: Alexis, Josh, Gracie, Garret, Wyatt, Everett, Kathryn, Maddox, Maris, Myla, Gwenevere, Karlie, Isaac, Charlotte, Stella, Reid and Valerie, and was looking forward to the arrival of 3 more; her sister: Carolyn (Chuck) Downing; sisters-in-law: Pat (Ed) Ketner, Alice Croy, Sally Croy, and Mary Croy; and a brother-in-law: Gary Okuley.
She is preceded in death by her brother: Ed King and her brothers-in-law: Bob, Jim, Bill Croy, Harry Michel; and sisters-in-law: Carol Okuley, Phyllis King and Dorothy Michel.
Jean was a gifted artist and enjoyed many years of working with her husband in their business, Croy's Country Crafts. Her artwork continues to be enjoyed by people from near and far as she created many beautiful and custom pieces of art..
Jean loved her family and especially family gatherings which she made sure included some type of costume or game. She kept her family guessing what she would come up with next, and never disappointed.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa, where she was a member of the bible study group, God Squad. Jean loved to volunteer, especially reading with children. She was involved with the Summer Reads program and Christmas School.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa, with Pastor Lynda Lockwood officiating. Burial will follow in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
